LG's New Smartwatch: The G Watch R

This Is LG's New Round-Face Smartwatch: The G Watch R

LG G Watch R 1

LG
After posting a teaser video earlier this week, LG has taken the wraps off its next Google-powered smartwatch, the G Watch R.
Unlike the standard G Watch, the G Watch R features a round face — similar to that of Motorola's Moto 360 smartwatch, which also runs on Google's Android Wear software. LG notes, however, that its smartwatch utilizes the entire display. Motorola's Moto 360 cuts off ever so slightly at the bottom.
The G Watch R seems like it will be just as much of a fitness device as it is a wristwatch. The dust- and water-resistant watch also comes with a handful of sensors, such as a gyroscope and accelerometer for sensing motion, a barometer for detecting temperature, and a heart rate monitor. LG points out that it will also come with LG's own apps in addition to Google's.

Android Wear is Google's new software optimized for smartwatches. The search engine giant officially announced the platform back in March, and since then we've seen watches from Samsung, LG, and Motorola entering the market. Android Wear is designed to act similarly to Google Now, but on your wrist. It's supposed to provide contextual, relevant information at a glance.
The G Watch R will debut in "key markets" in the fourth quarter of 2014, and pricing has yet to be announced.

Fancy a car-crash picture for all your image queries on Google?

Another day, another internet cock-up.

On Tuesday, users searching for any pictures on Google Images - kittens, puppies, flowers, food or even Google's own logo - were flooded with the same picture of a Russian car accident in the results page.
The worrying image was not an isolated incident, with users from Germany, Brazil, Canada all taking to Twitter and Google's own user forums to question whether its servers were hacked. While it did not affect all users, some users were repeatedly treated to the car crash image literally for all their queries on different browsers even when they had cleared their cache.
google test.jpg
"Looks like Google Images got hacked by someone in Russia(?) First few rows appears as normal after that it shows this [Image of the car crash]," said a user on Twitter.
The search giant has not yet commented on whether Google Images has been hacked or if it's a search bug or an error from one of its new interns.
Downtime senses nothing new here as Facebook clearly is hacked by the ALS Ice Bucket challenge and Twitter by #Emmys or even #GoogleImageshacked by now. Ho-hum.

(Reuters) - Former Microsoft Corp Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has left the software company's board in order to spend more time on his newly acquired Los Angeles Clippers basketball team, but said he plans to hang on to his 4 percent stake in Microsoft.
"I see a combination of the Clippers, civic contribution, teaching and study taking a lot of time," Ballmer said in a letter to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made public by Microsoft on Tuesday.
"The fall will be hectic between teaching a new class and the start of the NBA season so my departure from the board is effective immediately," he wrote.
Ballmer, 58, paid an NBA-record $2 billion for the Clippers. On Monday he greeted several thousand fans gathered at the team's Staples Center home with the trademark screams that punctuated employee meetings at Microsoft.
His exit marks the end of a 34-year association with the company that led the personal computer revolution. Ballmer joined Bill Gates' firm in 1980 when it was just a small startup in the Seattle suburbs, and succeeded him as CEO from 2000 until this February.
His decision to step down from the board is not surprising after 12 months of change at the head of the 39-year old software giant. It avoids potential board tension between Microsoft's new leader and the old regime, as Nadella attempts to move the company away from its traditional PC-focused mindset toward mobile computing.
"It removes the final 'Ballmer overhang' at Microsoft," said FBR Capital Markets analyst Daniel Ives of Ballmer's exit. "His resignation from the board represents a positive, as it leaves the company with a clean sheet of paper."
A year ago this week Ballmer announced his plan to retire from Microsoft, amid discontent over his leadership fueled by activist shareholder ValueAct Capital.
That caused five months of uncertainty at the top of Microsoft until Feb. 4, when veteran insider Nadella was appointed CEO and co-founder Gates stepped down as chairman.
As Gates sells shares to fund his philanthropy, Ballmer has become the biggest individual shareholder in Microsoft, owning a 4 percent stake worth about $15 billion.
"I hold more Microsoft shares than anyone other than index funds and love the mix of profits, investments and dividends returned in our stock," Ballmer said in his letter to Nadella. "I expect to continue holding that position for the foreseeable future."
Microsoft shares closed up 50 cents at $45.33 on Nasdaq. They are up 40 percent since Ballmer said he planned to retire, and are trading at levels not seen since the tech stock boom of 2000.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Leave the board

Microsoft Corp Chief Executive Steve Ballmer Left the company’s board.

Ballmer has been at the heart of microsoft for 33 year, but he decided it was time to change.

The 58 years old Executive , was in 1980 the first employee of Microsoft and then, for 25 years, the second strongest man behind Bill Gates, who built the company. Then Ballmer was Microsoft CEO for 13 years.

Steve Ballmer : "Maybe I'm an emblem of an old era, and I have to move on," the 58-year-old Mr. Ballmer says, pausing as his eyes well up. "As much as I love everything about what I'm doing," he says, "the best way for Microsoft to enter a new era is a new leader who will accelerate change."

Also Ballmer has recently bought the Los Angeles Clipper basketball team for $2 billion, and now he plans to Apply most of his attention to that project.
